Obanikoro protests Lagos PDP Governorship Primaries

Obanikoro protests in Lagos
The defeated Peoples Democratic Party governorship  aspirant in Lagos State,  Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has rejected yesterday’s governorship  results, stating that the primary election was marred with irregularities.
Specifically,  the former minister of defence told journalists that since the number of total votes cast is more than that of  accredited voters, the result should not have been announced.

He said that the election which saw Mr. Jimi Agbaje emerging  as the party’s flagbearer  after pollin 432 votes to defeat him (Obanikoro) who scored 343 votes, while Adedeji Doherty and Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi polled 21 votes respectively, was not acceptable.

Obanikoro, who addressed a press conference held at   Ikeja,   few minutes after the primaries, stated that, “the whole electoral exercise was a sham, I have never seen an election where ballot papers are counted before sorting,” he said.

He was referring to the incident during the polling where the total number of votes cast, 863, was higher than the total number of accredited delegates, 806.

Obanikoro   vowed not to relent until justice is done .

“We will fight it and ensure that the right thing is done,” he said.
