Otolorin, who died in the early hours of Monday at his Ilorin hometown in Kwara State was reported to have lost the battle to complications arising from prostrate cancer.
Otolorin, who recently retired as a senior sports coach at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin , is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren. His remains have since been deposited at a mortuary in the city pending when the family will meet to decide burial arrangements.
He was a member of the IICC squad that brought the first continental laurel to Nigeria in 1976 after winning the African Cup Winners Cup alongside the likes of Samuel Ojebode, Philip Boamah, Segun Odegbami, Folorunso Gambari, Idowu Otubusen, goalkeeper Best Ogedegbe, Muda Lawal and Nathaniel Adewole among others.
He is known for his famous long throw-ins. He also featured for the then Green Eagles, as the senior national football team was known.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Sports Writers Association (SWAN) has described the death as shocking in view of the contributions of the great footballer.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Jimoh Bashir, the Association said the death came at a time when the nation needed his service more.
The Association prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant him eternal rest.
